Because it still has a lot going for it, when you look at it with the right attitude. But it’s deeply unpopular to say so, especially in the more “I’m-more-historically-accurate-than-thou” sectors of our world. Screw ‘em. I’ll take McAvoy in a frock coat any day, even if he’s just reading aloud from a Chinese restaurant take-out menu.

@jim hill – I’m considering making a line of merch on Zazzle or whatever that has that line on it. Or maybe it should be my new banner. In any event, it always brings a warm flush to my cheeks when I know I’ve made you giggle.

I must find me some of these movies now. My husband has been trying to get me to watch XMEN since it came out in the theaters, and I’ve been very hesitant, but if YOU liked it then it must be good! :) Also, tried watching Becoming Jane once when it came out with my mom and she turned it off after 20 minutes because she was expecting Jane Austen. Will definitely give it another shot now with zero expectations. Thanks for the recommendations! :)
